What is the most interesting thing you have done or are planning to do to explore or gain experience in your career field?
After graduation, I plan on participating in an internship at a theatre in Colorado. This is an exciting opportunity for me to be away on my own and work in a professional theatre.
How has the scholarship allowed you to do these things: Graduate on-time, debt-free, launch your career and give back?
It is indescribable how much weight has been taken off my shoulders by this scholarship. The cloud of money worries hanging over my head is gone, and I can focus on my path forward. When I start my career, I won’t be buried under thousands of dollars of debt.
What is something important you’ve learned outside of class since you’ve started college?
I’ve learned to go easier on myself and accept that I can’t be great at everything. I’ve learned to focus on the people and things that are most important to me and my future and to let go of the things that don’t really matter.
What advice would you give to an incoming freshman?
Life is hard enough already; don’t stress yourself about school. You’re in college to learn and get better, not be perfect. Oh, and there isn’t enough kindness in the world, so add some.
Where is your favorite place to study?
I love to study in the art building. When I need a break, I love walking around and looking at people’s work.
